Independence Day

We have loved having a pool in our complex. Josh is quite the little swimmer. He has no fear and loves to go in the big pool. He will hold onto a noodle and swim all around all by himself. Pretty much everything these days is "all by myself". We had a fun fourth with my mom in town. We went to the pool, barbecued and then watched the fireworks.

First Glue

Oh yeah and I must tell the story so you won't be wondering what's wrong with Josh's forehead in all the pictures to come. We went to our old church in the Weston ward while we were in Boston. (Yes, it is the inspiration for Weston's name...we loved all the people in that ward--they were so great after Cameron's passing). It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and rekindle lifelong friendships. It was also a little emotional as we dropped off Josh in nursery and memories of Cameron flooded over us. I think others felt that way too. The whole trip was like that really, seeing Cameron's little friends and how BIG they are. And seeing our friends and their families and how different our family is now. Anyway sorry off track, so after a good but emotional church experience Josh was exhausted and running around the hallway. He fell headfirst into a metal doorhinge. It really wasn't horrible but we thought it needed stitches and a doctor at church confirmed that he thought it at least needed glue. Our first reaction was panic as we realized the closest hospital was Newton-Wellesley where Cameron was taken after his accident. I almost lost it and we just got in the car and called a friend to find where else we could go. We ended up at a small hospital that probably would have normally been fast except there was a critical patient. So we ended up waiting for 4hours in the ER for Dr. Phil (really his name) to spend 15 minutes glueing Josh's head. Not the most fun Sunday activity, and really the timing is what was hard. But we made it. And now Josh tells everybody that Dr. Phil glued his head and made it all better.
Sorry I didn't plan for that story to be so long...sheesh.

Weston's Eating Solids

kind of. So far he doesn't really like anything I've given him. He mostly just spits it back at me and tries to grab the spoon.
